Starting in late November, three WATCAC members took part in the 2019 Great Victorian Bike Ride along the Great Ocean Road organised by the Bicycle Network. The ride went for 10 days including 8 riding days and covered a distance of 700km and around 5,500m of climbing.
Meredith Prain (who now lives in Melbourne) contacted WATCAC and asked if someone could pilot a tandem for her on the ride. Jennifer Musgrave (who had always wanted to ride the Great Ocean Road) volunteered and David Musgrave agreed to come along as domestique (support). Team WATCAC were joined for the second half of the ride by Meredith’s friend, Merinda Beasley.
While on the ride, Jeremy Lee from ABC Local Radio put out a request for interesting stories to be included in his breakfast show. After learning a little about Meredith and Jennifer riding a tandem on the ride, he asked if they would join him for the live broadcast.
