Fifteen riders will be flying the flag for WATCAC on the annual Life Cycle for Canteen On-Road ride, 6-8 March. Participants ride 300km over three days from Bassendean to Busselton.
As preparation, on Sunday 21 February a group of WATCAC members challenged themselves to ride over 100km in a day. Four tandems and two single bikes headed out from Murdoch down the Kwinana Freeway PSP to the Mandurah foreshore, loading up on ice coffees, smoothies, muffins and banana bread on arrival. Jo and Natalie, who came along for the fun of it, returned via the air-conditioned train from Mandurah Station. The rest of the group rode back to Kwinana station, then also jumped on the train to escape the heat! Despite a warm 36 degrees, winds were favourable and the 112km total distance was great preparation.
Canteen supports young people affected by cancer. Life Cycle is Canteen’s biggest community fundraiser, recently passing the two million dollar mark across its 23 years of community cycling. We wish Adriana and Anthony; Kylie and Roland; Tracey and Jade; Dee and Jennifer, Jenny and Sarah; David, Paul, Haylee, Steve and Mike all the best in their riding and fundraising efforts.
