On Saturday night, the 18th April, we held a fundraiser Quiz night. The room was a buzz of 120 people sharing in merriment, chatting away, catching up with friends, eagerly anticipating what questions would be testing their brains. The silent auction kept people coming back and checking on their bids while others tried to guess how many lollies and chocolates were in the jars. With a large range of twenty prizes to win in the raffle, tickets were selling easily.
The commencement of the quiz soon put people into “thinking cap” mode while confirming or disagreeing on what they thought the correct answer was. The sound of joyous “yes’s” as the correct answer was confirmed and then the disheartened “Oh’s” when the answer they had was wrong, all made for a fun filled environment while sharing food and drinks on their tables. The bar was kept busy keeping people hydrated with alcohol, I assume with the hope that it would help them think better!
We were privileged to also have five seeing eye dogs there, but I don’t think they were much help in giving any answers. After the raffles were drawn and the silent auction concluded, first and second place tables were congratulated and given prizes for their marvellous knowledgeable minds, the winning table from the least marvellous received a prize for trying their best. I guess we all can’t be winners.
We are happy to announce that $4,000 was donated to WATCAC, to assist with the ongoing costs of bike storage, maintenance and the general running of the club.
The dogs also managed to conclude their evening with a free and crazy game of chase and doing mad zippies with one another after most of the people had left. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event and made it a successful and fun evening.
