WATCAC first recreation ride for 2021 welcomes new riders

Last Sunday 29 riders comprising 10 tandems and nine single bikes met up in Lathlain for the first rec ride for 2021, an open invitation ride. In addition to our regular members, riding numbers were swelled with prospective members and visitors from Perth’s cycling community who came along to see what WATCAC is all about. For many this was a chance to experience tandem group riding first-hand.

Thumbs up for Tandem Cycling Program

A fabulous group of dedicated cyclists joined our recent tandem pilot clinic held at the George Burnett Recreation Centre. The clinic focussed on how to ride on the front seat of a tandem, as the pilot. The eighteen trainees had backgrounds in touring, recreational, road, mountain and competition cycling, including some tandem cyclists!

2020 Annual General Meeting

Happy New Year, thanks and congratulations!

The WATCAC Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Sunday 6th December at Riverton Pavilion, at the halfway point of the December Rec Ride through Shelley. Congratulations to the new committee, Chair Erin McGlew, Vice-Chair Robert Loughman, Secretary Beau Tang, members Kate Atkins, Jo Kennedy, Sue Murphy and Jennifer Musgrave.  Subsequent to the AGM Jennifer has nominated as Treasurer, pending formal endorsement at the committee meeting later this month.  Jennifer will also continue as Ride Co-ordinator, well done Jennifer!

Tandemonium 2020

Tandemonium as Tandem Cyclists Highlight Cycling Road Safety

Fifty participants from Perth’s tandem cycling community formed a processional ride for road safety along the South Perth foreshore, as part of Tandemonium, Perth’s inaugural tandem muster for road safety. Hosted by the Western Australian Tandem Cycling Advisory Council (WATCAC) the event attracted a wide range of tandem and solo cyclists as part of National Road Safety Week 2020.
